Dumpster Rental FAQ — Prices, Sizes, Delivery, Placement, and Rules

FTH Services posts current dumpster rental pricing on the Dumpster Prices page. Pricing depends on dumpster size, delivery location, included rental days, included disposal weight, extra days, mileage, and any overweight or restricted-item issues.

Every standard FTH dumpster rental includes delivery, pickup, 7 days of use, and 1 ton of disposal weight. Extra days are $15 per day, and weight over the included amount is billed at $85 per ton, prorated.

The final cost can change because of extra rental days, weight overage, mileage after 25 miles, credit card processing, blocked pickup, over-the-rim loading, or restricted items. Heavy debris and wet material can increase disposal weight quickly.

FTH includes one ton because many home cleanouts land near that range, and it keeps the starting price lower. The 12-yard dumpster is useful for smaller cleanouts, garage cleanup, decluttering, light remodeling debris, small furniture loads, and projects where driveway space is limited.

The 15-yard dumpster is a middle option for larger household cleanouts, flooring, small remodels, estate cleanouts, bulky debris, and projects where a 12-yard may be too small.

The 20-yard dumpster is commonly used for larger cleanouts, remodels, roofing debris, bulky furniture, construction cleanup, and projects with more volume. Heavy material still needs weight planning.

No. Debris must stay below the top rail/rim so the container can be safely tarped, hauled, and disposed of. Over-the-rim loading can require correction before pickup and may create added fees.

Same-day delivery is available for many orders placed before the cutoff, but it depends on truck schedule, location, weather, site access, and container availability. Same-day delivery does not mean same-hour delivery.

The best placement is usually a firm, level, private driveway or other stable private surface with clear truck access. Concrete, asphalt, and compacted gravel are usually preferred when the surface is in good condition and the truck has room to place and retrieve the container.

Usually, yes, if the concrete is in good condition, level, accessible, and not over a weak slab, drain field, underground utility, or unsupported edge. Customers should identify any fragile or recently repaired concrete before delivery.

Usually, yes, but asphalt can soften in summer heat and may mark or indent under the weight of the dumpster, especially during longer rentals or heavy loads. Choose the firmest, flattest area available.

Compacted gravel is often suitable when it is level, firm, and wide enough for the truck. Loose gravel, soft shoulders, washouts, steep slopes, and narrow gates can limit placement.

Grass placement is not ideal. The dumpster and truck can leave ruts, and the grass under the container will likely be damaged or killed during summer heat or longer rentals. Wet soil makes grass placement riskier.

Backyard setups can only be accommodated if weather, season, soil firmness, slope, trees, fences, gates, overhead utilities, septic systems, underground water lines, sewer lines, irrigation, and other obstructions permit safe placement and pickup. Driveway placement is usually safer.

The delivery path and placement area must be clear of low tree limbs, overhead utility lines, service drops, carport edges, signs, basketball goals, and other overhead obstructions. Do not request placement where the truck or container could contact overhead utilities.

Do not place the dumpster or truck travel path over septic tanks, septic drain fields, underground water lines, sewer lines, irrigation lines, soft drainage areas, utility covers, or buried structures. The customer is responsible for identifying underground systems before delivery.

Not always, but the placement area must be clear and described accurately. If the site has tight access, questionable surfaces, backyard placement, locked gates, animals, septic concerns, or overhead obstructions, someone should be available to confirm placement.

The pickup path must be clear of vehicles, trailers, locked gates, equipment, low limbs, and loaded material outside the container. A blocked pickup can delay removal and may create added charges or extra rental days.

Common accepted items include furniture, mattresses, box springs, household debris, bagged trash, wood, trim, cabinets, flooring, light construction debris, yard debris, and appliances without refrigerant. Review Accepted Items before loading.

Do not load tires, batteries, wet paint, chemicals, fuel, liquids, biohazard waste, concrete, dirt, brick, rock, heavy fill, tree stumps, or appliances with refrigerant. Review Prohibited Items before booking.

Roofing shingles may be accepted with permission, but they are heavy. Confirm the roof size, number of layers, material type, and expected weight before booking. Keep shingles below the top rail and spread weight evenly.

Yard debris can be accepted for many projects, but tree stumps, dirt, rock, heavy fill, and certain oversized or unusually heavy loads are not accepted in standard rentals. Call before loading questionable material.

Restricted or prohibited items can create extra fees, rejected loads, unloading requirements, or disposal problems. The safest approach is to ask before loading anything unusual.

A dumpster placed on private property usually does not require a permit. Public street, sidewalk, shoulder, or right-of-way placement may require local approval. Rules vary by city, county, property type, and placement location.

Possibly. HOAs, POAs, apartments, commercial sites, and managed communities may have rules about dumpster placement, rental length, street visibility, driveway use, or screening. The customer should confirm approval before delivery.

Only when local rules allow it and any required approval has been handled. FTH Services should not be asked to place a dumpster in a public right-of-way unless permission and safe access are clear.

The customer is responsible for confirming property, HOA, landlord, city, county, and right-of-way approval before delivery. FTH Services can help discuss placement options, but the property approval belongs to the customer.
