A clear, no-exceptions list of what cannot go inside an FTH Services roll-off dumpster.

FULLY INSUREDLocal | Reliable | Affordable

What We Do Not Accept

To keep every load safe, legal, and within disposal rules, some materials cannot go inside the dumpster. Keep these items out of the container and arrange the proper recycling or disposal method before pickup.

We Never Accept Inside the Dumpster

  • Concrete, brick, rock, dirt, and heavy fill
  • Tree stumps
  • Tires
  • Batteries of any kind, including car, equipment, rechargeable, and lithium batteries
  • Wet paint, stain, sealer, and liquid coatings
  • Biological or medical waste

Also Not Accepted

  • Hazardous materials, chemicals, pesticides, solvents, fuels, oils, and liquids
  • Asbestos and any contaminated or regulated waste
  • Propane tanks, pressurized containers, and gas cylinders inside the dumpster
  • Appliances with refrigerant unless refrigerant has been professionally removed
  • Any material that makes the dumpster unsafe, overweight, leaking, or illegal to haul

Unsafe Loads

  • Debris loaded above the rim/top rail
  • Items hanging over the side or sticking out of the container
  • Loose liquids or leaking containers that can run out during transport
  • Loads blocked by vehicles, gates, low limbs, or soft ground at pickup

How to Handle Restricted Items

Wet Paint and Buckets

Wet paint cannot go into the dumpster. Latex or water-based paint must be fully dried and cured first. Mix the paint with dirt, cat litter, sawdust, paint hardener, or another absorbent material until it is solid all the way through, not just thick on top. Once fully cured, double bag the dried material before placing it in the dumpster.

Propane Tank Recycling

Propane tanks cannot go inside the dumpster because they create fire and explosion risk. FTH Services will take propane tanks for recycling when they are placed on the ground in front of the dumpster. We will load the tank separately and secure it for transport.

Tires

Tires should be taken to a tire retailer, recycling location, or county collection program. Tires hidden in a dumpster load create handling issues and added charges.

Car Batteries

Car batteries cannot go in the dumpster. Many auto parts stores accept old vehicle batteries, and some stores may purchase or credit the customer for the old battery.

Occurrence Fee

Wet paint, tires, and car batteries are subject to a $75 charge per occurrence if they are placed in the dumpster or require restricted handling.

Chemicals, Fuel, Oil, and Solvents

Use a household hazardous-waste program or approved disposal provider for chemicals, fuels, oils, solvents, and pesticides. These never go in a roll-off dumpster.

Overfilled or Unsafe Loads

All debris must stay below the rim/top rail. Material above the rim, items hanging over the sides, loose liquids, or an unsafe load can result in additional fees, unloading requirements, delayed pickup, or refusal to haul. Review the Terms and Conditions for customer responsibility, added charges, and loading rules.
